Calligraphic Artist + Musician
Who is TahJah Harmony
TahJah Harmony is a commercial photographer who is rediscovering her voice as a traditional artist. At the age of 8, her grandfather taught her calligraphy, and she also started taking violin lessons. Both calligraphy and violin have a very specific method in how you study and practice them.
“These two art forms have stayed with me most of my life, and I want to explore them in ways I haven’t to breathe new life into these art forms.”
TahJah has taken journal entries and poems she has written over the years and turned them into calligraphic paintings. She has a goal to have an art show performance where she wants to compose music to each of her paintings on her violin with sound pedals traditionally heard on guitars to create a full immersive experience.

Calligraphic Artist
Calligraphic art is handwriting written in an expressive manner. TahJah is taking various techniques she has learned in practicing calligraphy and creating paintings that are layered in a way that renders the words illegible.
Inspired by asemic writing (mark making that looks like handwriting, but has no semantic meaning), graffiti, and her background as a classically trained violinist, she is taking journal entries and poems and expressing her thoughts on canvas, paper, and photographs.
Experimental Violinist
TahJah Harmony is a classically trained violinist. After graduating college, she doesn’t get to play much unless she is performing at a wedding.
“I really missed playing and wanted to find another outlet that was just for me.”
TahJah has been working with musicians to run her violin through various sound effect pedals (like those you see a guitar player using) to produce very unique sounds.
“It’s such a challenge for me to play without sheet music, and also interacting with a sound I am not used to hearing, but it has opened up new possibilities in creating compositions for my paintings!”
Our first experiment with playing the violin through sound pedals.
