Studio Spotlight : Kim Meadowlark Art Showcase Promo Photography
This session was about stripping things back.
When photographing Kim Meadowlark an artist for her upcoming art show, the goal wasn’t to compete with the work—it was to support it. We leaned into a visual approach that felt simple, timeless, and quietly confident, inspired by classic denim ads with a clean white studio background.
By keeping the background white and the wardrobe minimal, the images allow her presence, posture, and expression to do the talking. This kind of simplicity creates space—and gives a timeless effortless look.
Though the focus was mainly on her – we added added a paint brush and some of her paintings for an extra element – but I loved her carpenter jeans and I had a lime wash paint brush to really show off that element. If you know Kim that is also so her as an interior photographer – but also usually doing a home reno project in her free time.
The result is imagery that feels modern but not tied to a moment in time, making it ideal for exhibition materials, press features, and future use beyond the show itself that could be used for:
Art show promotions
Artist statements and bios
Gallery submissions
Editorial features
By keeping this session simple, timeless, and inspired by classic denim imagery, the photographs create a strong visual foundation—one that supports the art, the artist, and the story she’s telling through her work.
You don’t always need to have a large concept to have an impactful photo session – Sometimes the most impactful choice is knowing when to keep things beautifully minimal.
