Calligraphic Artist + Musician
Who is TahJah Harmony
TahJah Harmony is a multi-disciplinary artist, performer, and musician based in South Louisiana. She is currently working on a calligraphic painting series where she is investigating the emotional weight of handwriting and the idea of if language can communicate without literal translation.
Harmony draws inspiration from movement, rhythm in music, her struggles with dyslexia, and her own personal experiences in trying to express her inner thoughts and feelings.

what are your emotions before they are put into words:
Calligraphic art is handwriting written in an expressive manner. TahJah is taking various techniques she has learned in practicing calligraphy and creating paintings that are layered in a way that renders the words illegible. TahJah takes her journal entries, poems, and personal thoughts and layers them onto canvas to invite the viewer to experience how she interprets her own emotions.
Experimental Violinist
TahJah Harmony is a classically trained violinist. After graduating college, she doesn’t get to play much unless she is performing at a wedding.
“I really missed playing and wanted to find another outlet that was just for me.”
TahJah has been working with musicians to run her violin through various sound effect pedals (like those you see a guitar player using) to produce very unique sounds.
“It’s such a challenge for me to play without sheet music, and also interacting with a sound I am not used to hearing, but it has opened up new possibilities in creating compositions for my paintings!”
Our first experiment with playing the violin through sound pedals.
