A Creative Branding Session for a Wallpaper Artist in Louisiana

There’s something special about photographing artists other artists. Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph a branding portrait session for By Hope at Home, a Louisiana wallpaper artist known for creating timeless, hand-painted wallpaper designs inspired by nature, texture, and elevated Southern interiors.

As a Louisiana studio photographer specializing in branding portraits, my goal with every creative business session is to capture more than just headshots. I want to create imagery that reflects the personality, artistry, and story behind the brand — giving clients intentional visuals they can use across websites, social media, marketing materials, press features, and launches.

Hope was launching a newline of stripe and floral wallpaper – but wanted to have images she could use for marketing that werent directly tied to her products. For her first look she had the idea of wearing stripes and florals and I thought that was such a great way to tie in her passion for mixing patterns.

Why Branding Photography Matters for Artists and Creative Businesses

For artists, designers, and creative entrepreneurs, your brand is deeply personal. Your audience isn’t only buying a product, they’re connecting with the story, process, and person behind the work.

Professional branding photography helps create:

  • A cohesive and elevated online presence

  • Consistent imagery for social media and marketing

  • Trust and connection with potential clients

  • Visual storytelling that reflects your brand identity

  • Content for websites, editorials, launches, and collaborations

I feel like a good rule of thumb would to be to get new updated photos done each time you launch a new product or a service to really elevate the experience for your marketing.

Hope also needed some images to use for when she talks about her interior design posts. Though wallpaper is her passion, many reach out to her for advice on how to style their home or to make their new model home feel more lived in, so she wanted to showcase that side of her a little bit more.

Planning a Branding Session That Reflects Your Business

Every branding session I photograph is customized to fit the client’s industry, aesthetic, and goals.

Before each session, we typically discuss:

  • Brand colors and visual identity

  • Intended use for the photos

  • Website and social media needs

  • Wardrobe styling

  • Props and products

  • Location and studio setup

  • Desired mood and storytelling elements

Hope it has been a year since Hope has done a branding session with me. She still uses her images that really reflect her as a wallpaper and textiles artist, so she opted for my Signature Clean Canvas Collection, this go around to allow her more flexibility.
